Derne Street Capital is a boutique real estate investment and development firm specializing in luxury mixed-used, residential, and commercial assets. With deep roots in family and lifelong friendships, the firm brings a distinct personal touch to its projects, focusing on creating exceptional tenant experiences tailored to the needs of the market.

Founded by third-generation real estate developers, Lou Tamposi, and brothers Justin and Tyler Griffin, the partners draw upon a shared legacy. The firm is driven by collaborative approach to every venture, ensuring that each development is designed and executed with precision and care, and guided by family values.

Our Team

  • Lou Tamposi

    Lou Tamposi is a Principal and Co-Founder of Derne Street Capital. He is focused on all aspects of the firm’s initiatives including strategy, acquisition, development, asset management, and financing and disposition.

    Prior to founding Derne Street Capital, Lou oversaw the acquisition and development efforts for Toll Brothers Apartment Living in New England. Beginning with acquisition, through permitting and entitlement, financing construction, and ultimately disposition, Lou was involved in all-stages of over $1.5B of ground up apartment development in Massachusetts, New York, and Connecticut.

    Previously, Lou worked at Avison Young, a full-service commercial real estate brokerage. He also taught English Language Arts at Blackstone Valley Prep Middle School outside of Providence, Rhode Island, serving through Teach for America.

    Lou holds a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Entrepreneurial Leadership from Tufts University. He has completed coursework at both the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, completing the Business Bridge Program, and the University of Massachusetts, from which he holds a certificate in Sustainable Food and Farming. Lou lives in Dover, MA with his wife, two children, and dog. He enjoys cooking, writing, bowhunting, spearfishing, and spending as much time outside with his family as he can.

  • Tyler Griffin

    Tyler Griffin is a Principal and Co-Founder of Derne Street Capital.

    Prior to founding the firm, Tyler led over $680 million in ground-up development projects across California, Iowa, Massachusetts, and Washington, DC, as part of The RMR Group's national development team. He also gained experience at CMB, Inc., completing a comprehensive Construction Training Program, and began his career as an Associate Broker at Boston Realty Advisors.

    Tyler holds a Bachelor of Science from Trinity College and a Master’s degree from Fordham University. He has completed programs at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and the Urban Land Institute. Based in Bronxville, NY, Tyler serves on the Board of Directors for Camp Belknap and enjoys skiing, hiking, and spending time with his family around Lake Winnipesaukee

  • Justin Griffin

    Justin Griffin is a Principal and Co-Founder at Derne Street Capital. Leveraging his extensive experience in brand and political strategy, and corporate marketing, Justin helps oversee the firm’s marketing and leasing efforts.

    Over the past decade, Justin has worked at the intersection of business and politics, advising major corporations, non-profits, and industry trade organizations, including Google, Bayer, Caterpillar, the Coca-Cola Bottlers’ Association, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the Federation of American Scientists.

    Justin's political experience includes advising governors, senators, members of Congress, and presidential candidates. In 2018, he served as Director of Finance for Governor Charlie Baker and Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito's successful reelection campaign.

    Justin is the founder of the Bipartisan Cause for a Cure, benefiting the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. He serves on the Board of Directors for MassVentures, Massachusetts’ public-private venture capital firm. Justin holds a BS from Clark University and an MBA from the New York University Stern School of Business. He lives in Bronxville, New York with his wife, and enjoys golf, keeping up with the Red Sox, and playing with two dogs.
